About Me
JOANNA Z. FORBES

My name is Joanna Zhanna Forbes, and I am a children’s book illustrator. I was adopted from Russia at the age of three, and throughout my life, I had challenges understanding what I was meant to do and where I belonged in life. However, as I grew older, illustration became a way for me to connect with others.
I write and illustrate my own adoption-themed books because I believe they are a wonderful tool for new families to bond. One of my dreams is to connect with others in a creative and meaningful way. Sharing my love for art brings me genuine happiness.
My educational experiences at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design and Savannah College of Art and Design have shaped my artistic journey. I have learned to strike a better balance between creativity and technique. My work includes both digital and handmade illustrations. I find color to be particularly important, as it can express emotions and plays a significant role in children’s books.
I aim to work with clients who share similar interests and goals. Having a youthful approach and creating art that is full of expression is my top priority.
